‘Maddie May Day’ encourages kindness in memory of Idaho Murder victim

MOSCOW, Idaho – Family and friends of one of the University of Idaho murder victims are honoring her memory with acts of kindness on what would have been her birthday.

According to a flyer sent out on Sunday, May 25, which marks . Mogen was one of four University of Idaho students killed in an off-campus house in 2022.

In her memory, encouraging others to celebrate her life through simple acts of kindness.

Those who wish to participate are encouraged to do anything from buying a cup of coffee for a stranger, to baking cookies for a coworker, or giving flowers to a friend.

The Goncalves family also shared a tribute on Facebook, writing:

“Maddie is the funniest, most genuine, kind hearted, & loving person. Her laughter is so contagious I can still hear it sitting here now. Maddie taught me the power of an open heart & true kindness. Maddie never held back on love & I hope one day I can be more like her. Thank you for everything Maddie. I love you. I miss you more everyday. Happy birthday sister.”

Supporters can share their acts of kindness with the community and Mogen’s loved ones by posting on social media using the hashtag #MaddieMayDay.

His trial is scheduled to begin in August.
