Local angler from Troy sets new Idaho catch-and-release record in Kootenai River

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — A local angler has broken the Idaho catch-and-release record by catching a legendary fish in the Kootenai River.

Caleb Wilson from Troy caught a 26.75 inch burbot, or freshwater cod, on March 19.

Wilson measured the fish before releasing it back into the river, earning his spot as the new state catch-and-release record holder.
