LINCOLN COUNTY, Wash. – Lincoln County officials have addressed concerns about a recent listing error by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which labeled the county as a “Sanctuary County.”
Commissioner Rob Coffman stated that Lincoln County, along with 34 other counties in Washington, was mistakenly identified by DHS as having policies obstructing federal immigration law enforcement. Coffman emphasized, “This could not be farther from the truth.”
In response, the Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution 2025-18, declaring Lincoln County’s intent not to be a sanctuary jurisdiction. The resolution emphasizes the county’s commitment to cooperating with federal authorities and supporting the principles and policies of the Trump Administration.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the list has been removed from the DHS website, and the county continues to work with officials to resolve the issue. The resolution took effect immediately upon its adoption on June 2.
