LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. – Volunteers in Liberty Lake prepared a special luminary tribute to honor fallen soldiers during Memorial Day weekend. The tribute took place at Pavillion Park, where community members gathered to pay their respects.

Members of the Liberty Lake Rotary Club, veterans, and local residents arrived early Friday morning to set up the luminary display. Each luminary represented a fallen hero, turning the park into a meaningful tribute.

“During the day, obviously, it looks like the national cemetery and during the night, it’s lit up red white and blue,” one volunteer said.

The event aimed to bring the community together in remembrance. A participant expressed excitement for the collective effort, stating, “I’m really excited for our whole community to see this – it truly takes a community to support after each of these losses.”

For veterans like Andrea, the luminaries held deep personal significance. She reflected on the impact of the tribute.

“Each of these represents someone who is not with us today, who went through the most scary moment of their life, giving it up for our country,” she said. “There are a whole lot of tears… in a good way.”

The luminary display is open every night through Memorial Day at Pavillion Park. Additionally, a pancake breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. on Monday.
