
LEWISTON, Idaho – Simone Kackzmark, a student from Lewis and Clark, is traveling to Washington, D.C. to advocate for renewed funding for type 1 diabetes research.
Kackzmark, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 10, will be focusing her efforts on the Special Diabetes Program. This program provides the National Institute of Health with $160 million annually for diabetes research.
Her advocacy work aims to ensure continued support and funding for crucial research into type 1 diabetes, a cause that has personally impacted her life.
Kackzmark trip highlights the importance of community voices in influencing national health policies and the ongoing need for research funding.
