LEWISTON, Idaho – Police arrested a man on Monday they say is connected to a series of car burglaries and thefts throughout Lewiston and Clarkston.

Christo Xiggenis, 42, was arrested on three counts of grand theft and four counts of burglary. Police said they have identified 27 victims connected to the incidents.

Lewiston police said the investigation began in March when someone reported seeing their stolen property listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. An officer recognized carpet in the photos from a local hotel, where police found a stolen credit card while executing a search warrant and placed Xiggenis on felony probation.

Around five months later, police said, Xiggenis was arrested by Nez Perce County Deputies on an “unrelated felony charge.” While making that arrest, deputies found more stolen property inside his car.

Further stolen items later recovered from storage units belonging to Xiggenis included several cell phones, an iPad, GPS systems, dash cameras, tools and prescription medications.

“The Lewiston Police Department reminds residents to remain vigilant and to lock their vehicles at all times,” LPD wrote in a press release. “The majority of vehicle burglaries investigated by officers involve vehicles that were left unlocked.”
