According to Maurice Goodall, Director of Okanogan County Emergency Management, the fire ignited along Green Acres Road, rapidly spreading south and slightly east.
The blaze has blackened approximately 40 acres, primarily sagebrush and grass.
There are buildings nearby, but there is no information yet on whether any structures have been damaged.
RIVERSIDE, Wash. – A Level 3 immediate evacuation has been issued for areas around a 40 acre fire in Riverside.
Okanogan County Emergency Management said residents and businesses in the area of 202 Greenacres Road, which is closed, near Omak Airport should move away from the fire immediately.
High winds are causing additional problems across Okanogan County, with downed trees and power lines, said the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office in a release.
Phone lines are also impacted, but 911 lines remain operational.
Non-emergency calls to and from dispatch may face disruptions.
