OLYMPIA, Wash. – Rep. Hunter Abell (R-Inchelium) has introduced legislation to establish a Global War on Terror (GWOT) Memorial on the Washington State Capitol Campus.
Abell, a Republican from Inchelium, served in the military for over 20 years with deployments to Iraq and Guantanamo Bay.
He emphasized the importance of the memorial, saying it is a way to honor Washingtonians who “gave their last full measure” in the Global War on Terror.
The proposed House Bill 2514 aims to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives in the conflict.
Abell highlighted the significance of this gesture by filming a video in front of the Winged Memorial on the Capitol Campus, which commemorates those who died in World War I.
