Latinos en Spokane seeks community support for Tiul family resettlement

SPOKANE, Wash. – The local organization “Latinos en Spokane” is asking for the community’s help as they work to resettle the Tiul family into a new home after in Dilley, Texas.

Karla Tuil Baltazar, a 10-year-old Spokane Public Schools student, and her father, Arnoldo Tiul Caal, were released on February 7 after being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in early January.

“They lost their furniture and most of their belongings while they were detained at the Dilley Family Detention Center,” a Latinos en Spokane spokesperson stated on Saturday afternoon.

The organization is requesting donations to help furnish the Tiul family’s new apartment. The items needed include a small couch, television, Roku streaming device, small TV stand and a dresser or drawers for clothes.

“We will be accepting these items on Tuesday at the Latinos En Spokane Center,” the spokesperson said.

The center is located at 1502 North Monroe Street in Spokane.
