UPDATE: September 2 at 10:50 p.m.

The White Pine Fire, burning 35 miles northeast of Moscow, has prompted the Latah County Sheriff’s Office to evacuate White Pine Campground and nearby hunting camps under a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation order.

In addition to the Level 3 evacuations, Level 2 “Get Set” evacuation orders remain in place for Flynn Butte, Little Bald Mountain and the land extending south of the Palouse Divide 377 Road.

As of the latest update from the National Interagency Fire Center, the White Pine Fire has burned 15 acres with no containment reported.

Meanwhile, the Crown Creek Fire in Stevens County has seen an expansion of Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations. The fire has grown to more than 4,300 acres and is currently zero percent contained.

There is concern that the Blackhawk Mountain fire, burning just northeast, could merge with the Crown Creek Fire. Both fires have been determined to be caused by lightning.

UPDATE: September 1 at 10:50 p.m.
