
IDAHO COUNTY, Idaho – U.S. Highway 95 was closed down Friday, just north of Riggins and south of Lucile, as the result of a landslide.
The landslide occurred around 3 p.m., covering the roadway with mud and lumber.
Currently, the only detour routes available have been designated for small vehicles only, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office. No semi trucks, trailers, boats or motorhomes are permitted to travel on these alternate routes.
Cow Creek Road was set as the north side detour, while Race Creek Road was set as the south side detour. Deputies are stationed at the detour locations.
There is no information yet about what caused the landslide or when the highway might reopen.
