Kootenai County ‘National Night Out’ features K9s, food and community outreach

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho – Several Kootenai public service groups, along with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, are hosting the 2025 National Night Out event at McIntire Family Park, over by Hayden City Hall.

The event will take place on August 5 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will include free food, community outreach groups and an opportunity to talk with local public service leaders about building a collective vision for a safer future.

Kootenai Sheriff’s Office described the event as “a family friendly event promoting public safety and building community relationships.”

The event will feature First Responders displaying equipment and talking about how and why they use each piece. Visitors will have the chance to see, touch and feel equipment.

The event will also offer live entertainment, including K9 demos and scenarios, an ABLE 1 helicopter landing and free food and drinks.

Vendors and community resource grounds will offer services and fun as well.

Visitors can join a free meal offered by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Search and Rescue Unit and Sheriff Norris will be mingling to talk with participants about his vision for the future of public safety and to ask how the agency can better serve citizens.
