COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Chris Way, the Fire and Rescue Chief of Kootenai County, is stepping down after five years of service. His resignation was accepted at a special meeting held on Thursday afternoon.
Way is set to take on a new position as an EMS Chief in South Carolina. His last day with Kootenai County will be Wednesday, August 6.
Later this month, Way will speak at an EMS leadership conference in South Carolina.
Deputy Chief Pete Holley will serve as the interim chief following Way’s departure.
