MOSCOW, Idaho – Bryan Kohberger changed his plea to guilty for burglary and four counts of first-degree murder, with admission and plea documents now available for public viewing.
Kohberger, who faced charges of burglary and four counts of first-degree murder, has changed his plea to guilty, avoiding the death penalty. The maximum sentence for each murder count is life without parole.
The plea agreement outlined that Kohberger will serve a 10-year sentence for burglary and consecutive life sentences for the murder charges.
The state may also seek restitution for funeral expenses and crime victims’ compensation.
In the documents Kohberger acknowledged understanding the charges and consequences, including waiving his rights to a jury trial and appeal.
The signed admission letter outlined that Kohberger admitted to unlawfully entering the house on King Road with the intent to commit murder. He confessed to several counts, including burglary and first-degree murder.
Each count of first-degree murder required Kohberger to acknowledge the willful, deliberate, and premeditated killing of the victims.
