SPOKANE, Wash. – Project K-9 Hero has announced Jango, a K-9 serving the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, has died.
Jango had served the sheriff’s office for one and a half years as a patrol K-9 until November of 2025, where an on-duty incident left him paralyzed and unable to breathe on his own.
On his last night of duty, Jango ran through a commercial grade double pane glass window in the dark, according to Project K-9 Hero.
CPR was performed by Jango’s handler, and ER veterinary staff had to intubate the K-9.
“Please take a moment to mourn in the loss of K-9 Jango. We were honored to be protecting him, after all that he had been through fighting for his life, after protecting our communities and nation!” Project K-9 Hero said.
