SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Deputies with the Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD) arrested a 15-year-old female suspect on Wednesday after she threatened to stab a man and assaulted him.
The incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Discovery Place. The victim, an adult male, reported being punched in the face by the suspect, who was brandishing a knife.
Witnesses described a group of teenagers, who appeared intoxicated, fighting near the Spokane River. Deputies arrived to find both the victim and the suspect showing signs of intoxication from alcohol.
The victim stated that an argument started when a friend of the suspect threw his cherished tumbler on the ground. He said he poured water over the friend’s head, prompting the suspect to threaten him with a 12-inch knife.
According to the SVPD, the situation was briefly calmed by others, but the suspect later grabbed the victim’s hair and punched him repeatedly. Deputies observed wounds on the victim consistent with this assault.
A blue knife and sheath were found nearby and collected as evidence. The victim confirmed it was the knife that the suspect used to threaten him.
The suspect was taken to the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of felony harassment with a weapon and assault. She was described as “uncooperative and erratic,” reportedly causing $500 in damage at the facility by kicking a hole in a wall. Her blood-alcohol content was measured at .184 and .224, leading to her being transported to a hospital for evaluation.
