DEER PARK, Wash. – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (SCIU) served a search warrant Tuesday morning at the home of a 15-year-old suspect in connection with a commercial burglary and other recent crimes in Deer Park.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the juvenile has a history of violence and uncooperativeness, prompting assistance from the Warrant Service Group (WSG) during the operation.

On May 5, two juveniles wearing dark clothing allegedly broke into the Expressway on East Crawford Street. The suspects reportedly stole cash, vapes, cigars and beverages. The SCIU identified one suspect as the juvenile arrested on Tuesday.

Authorities also suspect the juvenile’s involvement in a May 7 incident, where gunfire damaged an unoccupied car, leaving three bullet holes.

During the warrant service, the suspect was reportedly uncooperative, eventually exiting his home and running from authorities despite being informed of his arrest. The deputies, noting he was unarmed, chose not to use force.

The suspect inadvertently ran into an area secured by additional law enforcement, where he surrendered and was arrested. He was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center on felony charges of commercial burglary, malicious mischief, theft, and obstructing law enforcement.

A search of the suspect’s room revealed stolen items and clothing matching the report and security footage from the burglary.

Spokane County police continue to investigate, seeking additional information on the recent criminal activities in Deer Park, and the second suspect involved.
