SPOKANE, Wash. – Downtown Spokane was buzzing with excitement on Saturday as the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) hosted its seventh annual Junior Firefighter Academy.

River Park Square and Post Street transformed into an interactive training ground for children. Participants got the chance to learn CPR, use real fire hoses and meet Spokane’s arson dog, Chardonnay.

The event focused on safety and fun, concluding with participants receiving official Junior Firefighter certificates and enjoying a sweet treat from Nom Nom.

SFD officials emphasized the importance of events like this to spark interest in public safety and potentially inspire future firefighters.
