Judge sentences former Spokane-area educator for child sex crimes

SPOKANE, Wash. — A former Riverside School District employee has been sentenced to three decades in prison for being “one of the most prolific child predators” sentenced in eastern Washington.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Dallas Shuler pled guilty to 12 felony counts related to the online exploitation of children. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release on Wednesday, March 25.

The FBI began investigating Shuler over child sexual abuse material that had been posted online. Shuler told law enforcement he had asked victims online for the material and abused at least three minor children himself. Shuler victimized many children through Snapchat while usually posing as a teenage girl.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the charges encompass the exploitation of 37 different minor children. Investigators say Shuler sought out children from the Riverside School District and also bragged about his crimes online to other predators.

“Shuler is one of the most prolific child predators to be sentenced in this district. No others compare,” said U.S. Attorney Pete Serrano. “He was relentless in his pursuit of child victims. The long sentence was merited by the offenses committed on vulnerable children in this case.”
