
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Joe Nguyen is stepping down from his role as the director of the Washington State Department of Commerce to become the next leader of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, an independent business organization with 2,600 members, announced Nguyen’s new role on Monday.
Nguyen, who represents White Center, was in his second term in the state Senate representing the 34th Legislative District when Governor Ferguson appointed him to the high-ranking post.
He is the first member of Ferguson’s executive cabinet to resign, although others have retired.
