BOISE, Idaho – Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced the conviction of Woody Roberts for unemployment fraud. Roberts, 38, was sentenced on June 9, 2025, by Ada County Judge Annie McDevitt.

Roberts was found guilty of submitting false information to obtain unemployment benefits. From May 2020 through May 2021, he falsely claimed unemployment while working and earning wages.

Attorney General Labrador emphasized the impact of such fraud, stating, “Unemployment fraud steals from Idaho taxpayers and undermines programs designed to help those genuinely in need.”

Judge McDevitt sentenced Roberts to eight years, with one year fixed and seven years indeterminate. During the first year, known as a “rider,” he will undergo structured programming while in custody. Roberts was also ordered to pay $57,733.28 in restitution to the Idaho Department of Labor.
