IDAHO COUNTY, Idaho – The Island Creek fire burning 14 miles north of Elk City on the Moose Creek Ranger District is 14,569 acres in size, according to the latest update from the U.S. Forest Service.
The lightning-caused fire started on July 31. It is currently 5% contained with 269 total personnel fighting the blaze.
There are closure orders in effect for Selway River Road, Coolwater Road, and parts of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. For up-to-date information on closures, visit this website.
