MONTANA – The IRS has introduced a new website aimed at combating tax fraud and scams, making it easier for individuals to report issues.
The IRS stated that the new platform allows users to report suspected tax fraud, scams, or evasion directly. Additionally, individuals can report fake IRS emails or messages, identity theft or concerns about tax return preparers through this site.
Chief Executive Officer Frank J. Bisignano emphasized the benefits of this new website.
“This change makes reporting simpler and helps the IRS use tips more effectively,” Bisignano said.
The IRS plans further upgrades to make fraud reporting even more streamlined over time.
In 2025, the Montana Department of Justice reported saving residents from losing more than $1.6 million to scams and bad business practices. According to a press release from January 2026, Attorney General Austin Knudsen noted that the Office of Consumer Protection handled over 500 scam complaints and over 1,300 business complaints last year.
Knudsen advised residents to remain skeptical and report any scams to the Office of Consumer Protection. If fraud is suspected, contact the Montana Department of Revenue at 406-444-6900.
