Identity revealed of 20-year-old woman killed by school bus in Spokane County

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the name of the woman who was hit and killed by a school bus Monday evening in Fairwood.

The pedestrian’s name was confirmed to be Eva Allen. She was 20 years old.

The Mead School District released a statement regarding the fatal crash on Monday where a pedestrian was hit and killed by a school bus.

“We are devastated by the loss resulting from the tragic accident involving a Mead School District bus. Our hearts are with the family, friends, and loved ones, and we extend our deepest condolences and stand with them during this profoundly difficult time. Any time we lose a member of the Mead family, whether a current or former student, it has a widespread impact.

“The district has dedicated counselors and additional support staff available on site to provide care and assistance for any students or staff who may need it. We will also continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”

FAIRWOOD, Wash. — A woman died after she was struck by a school bus while crossing a street Monday evening in Fairwood.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 5 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian hit by a Mead School District school bus at the intersection of West Hastings Road and West Bellwood Drive.

Investigators said that preliminary information indicates the woman was crossing West Hastings Road from south to north in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the bus. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, deputies said.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office said that they will release the woman’s name, along with the cause and manner of death, at a later time.

Deputies said the incident remains under investigation.
