BOISE, Idaho – The 2026 election season is underway with new changes to the candidate filing process in Idaho.
This year, all candidates will file online at VoteIdaho.gov, simplifying the process by allowing electronic submissions and payments.
“We are excited to kick off the election season with a streamlined process for candidates across Idaho,” said Secretary of State Phil McGrane. “We look forward to the year ahead and appreciate Idahoans’ effort to seek public service.”
The filing period for statewide and legislative candidates is from February 23 at 7:00 a.m. PST to February 27 at 4 p.m. PST. The withdrawal deadline is March 6 at 5 p.m. PST.
Candidates opting to submit signatures instead of a filing fee must still deliver these directly to the appropriate filing office.
A second filing period for county, local offices and precinct committeemen will also be available online from March 2 until March 13. The withdrawal deadline for these positions is March 20, 2026.
