IDAHO – Nearly two dozen school districts and charter schools in Idaho are making strides in student safety and security improvements. This development is due to a second round of grant funding dedicated to supporting school resource officer positions.
The Idaho Department of Education reported that the grants are made possible through the state’s Millennium Fund and are administered by the State Department of Education. The department approved funding for 21 local education agencies, including Hayden Canyon Charter School, Kootenai Joint School District, and Lewiston Independent School District.
This funding allows some agencies to introduce a school resource officer into their district or charter for the first time, enhancing the safety measures in place.
