Idaho – Idaho’s population grew by 1.4% in the last year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, making it the second-highest growth rate in the nation.

Idaho’s yearly population growth has sat between 1.4% and 1.5% over the past few years, rates far lower than in 2021 and 2022, when rates sat at 3% and 2%, the Idaho Department of Labor explained in an announcement about the growth rate.

Idaho’s year-long growth rate in 2025 was higher than neighboring states, which includes Washington (0.9%), Montana (0.6%), Oregon (0.2%), Nevada (0.9%), Utah (1%) and Wyoming (0.3%).

The state with the highest yearly growth rate in 2025 was South Carolina (1.5%), followed by Idaho (1.4%), North Carolina (1.3%), Texas (1.2%) and Utah (1%).

The Idaho Department of Labor said net migration into Idaho made up 76% of the state’s growth in 2025. 90% of those who migrated to Idaho were from other U.S. states. Natural population growth made up the other 24% of Idaho’s population growth in 2025.
