IDAHO – Idaho is set to modernize its emergency response system with the launch of Next Gen 911. The Idaho Public Safety Communications Commission has approved grants to move forward with these plans.

The update aims to replace older 911 systems with a faster, more reliable digital infrastructure. According to the Office of Emergency Management, this will expedite support for text-to-911 and improve caller location accuracy. Emergency operators will now be able to determine not just where you are in a large building, but also the specific room.

Additionally, the new system is designed to manage call surges during disasters, among other enhancements. This modernization is a significant step in improving emergency response for Idaho residents.
