OSBURN, Idaho – Idaho Fish and Game is asking for the public’s help gathering information about two wildlife crimes involving animals that were left dead in violation of Idaho law.
The first crime involved an elk that was shot and left to waste off Nuchols Gulch Road in Osburn. The elk was shot behind the shoulder and no meat was taken from the animal, according to Fish and Game.
Fish and Game said it believed the elk was killed on October 19.
The second crime involved a mule deer doe that was illegally killed and had its quarters and backstraps taken. It was killed during a closed season, Fish and Game said.
“These types of crimes are violations of Idaho law and losses of valuable public resources. Fish and wildlife in Idaho belong to all Idahoans, and crimes such as these steal from everyone who values and enjoys them,” Fish and Game said in its report about the crimes.
Fish and Game asked anyone with information to call the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999 or at the Citizens Against Poaching website.
Fish and Game said a monetary reward would be requested for people who provide “credible, detailed information that significantly helps identify” those involved and leads to their charges.
