BOISE, Idaho – The state of Idaho is projected to end its fiscal year in June 2026 with a $56 million budget deficit, according to a report released Friday by the Idaho Legislative Services Office.
The state constitution prohibits Idaho from running a deficit where expenses exceed available revenue.
In response to the projected deficit, Governor Brad Little has ordered all state agencies outside of public schools to cut their budgets by three percent.
These budget cuts are expected to continue into 2027 and could potentially become permanent.
