Idaho drivers face rising traffic fatalities during ‘100 Deadliest Days’

IDAHO – The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day where a spike in crashes is typically seen statewide, also known as the “100 Deadliest Days,” is approaching.

The Idaho Transportation Department and the Idaho Office of Highway Safety (OHS) is urging all drivers to be safe and make responsible choices behind the wheel.

As of May 12, there have been 74 deaths caused by crashes in Idaho in 2025, compared to 57 at the same time in 2024.

“We call this period the 100 Deadliest Days, but it would be great to be proven wrong,” said OHS Program Manager Josephine Middleton. “Make it safer out there for yourself and others, and remember, when traveling in rural areas, to be extra vigilant because emergency crash response times are more challenging.”

OHS recommends all drivers to wear a seatbelt, drive engaged, never drive impaired and slow down when in rural areas.
