BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) awarded $9,640,000 to enhance water systems in Canyon and Boundary counties.

In Canyon County, the city of Wilder received a $9,140,000 loan for the design and construction of a wastewater reuse system. The DEQ emphasized that this project will meet regulatory permit limits with necessary upgrades.

The loan for Wilder, sourced from the DEQ’s State Revolving Loan Fund (SRLF), features a 2% interest rate over 30 years, with over $6 million in principal forgiveness. The city qualifies for a “disadvantaged loan” due to wastewater service costs exceeding 1.5% of the median household income.

In Boundary County, the Curley Creek Water Association (CCWA) obtained a $500,000 loan for a new reservoir, booster pumps, an automated treatment system and a secondary well. These improvements aim to address contamination and flow capacity issues, according to the DEQ.

The CCWA’s loan, also from the SRLF, includes the same interest rate and repayment period, with $500,000 in principal forgiveness.
