CLE ELUM, Wash. – Garco Construction, Inc. has been selected to replace the westbound I-90 span of the Bullfrog Road overpass near Cle Elum, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced.
WSDOT said the decision followed a competitive bidding process where Garco Construction submitted the lowest bid at just over $2 million.
The goal is to have the overpass open to traffic by January 2026, WSDOT said.
Major work is set to begin in early December, with no travel impacts expected over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Pre-cast girders, already being manufactured off-site, will be delivered to the project location. The use of these girders will reduce construction time and minimize I-90 closures.
Current detours include eastbound I-90 travelers using Exit 85 to State Route 903 for Suncadia or Roslyn. Westbound travelers should use Exit 78, then head east on I-90 to Exit 80 for access to South Bullfrog Road or Leisure Lane.
Travelers from the Suncadia and Roslyn areas should use SR 903 to reach alternate westbound I-90 access points.
The need for repairs arose after a truck exceeding height limits severely damaged the overpass.
