COLFAX, Wash. – The Whitman County Coroner’s Office has identified the human remains found on December 22 along South Palouse Road as Michael Shawn Garcia, .
and notified law enforcement. Both the Colfax Police Department (CPD) and Whitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, eventually turning over the skeletal remains to the coroner’s office.
“Due to the advanced decomposition of the remains and the time that has elapsed, the cause and manner of death were unable to be determined,” CPD Chief Michael G. Melcher stated.
