BOISE, Idaho – The National Interagency Fire Center reported nearly 37,000 human-caused fires have burned more than 1.5 million acres in the U.S. this year.

The center emphasized the importance of fire safety, especially in Oregon and Washington, where several large fires are actively burning.

They urged people to avoid driving or parking on dry grass, check fire restrictions, secure chains, and ensure campfires are completely out.

These precautions are crucial given the current dry conditions, according to the center.
