King’s Hawaiian and Bing Crosby are joining forces to celebrate their 75th anniversaries. The collaboration features a new Mele Kalikimaka GingerBREAD House made from King’s Hawaiian rolls and a fresh cover of the holiday classic “Mele Kalikimaka” by Iam Tongi.
The limited-edition GingerBREAD House kit includes King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls, festive icing, and island-themed sprinkles. It also comes with a mini record and QR code linking to Bing Crosby’s “Mele Kalikimaka.” The kit is priced at $19.50 and available on King’s Hawaiian’s website.
Iam Tongi, a Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter, recorded a new take on “Mele Kalikimaka.” The EP, featuring Tongi’s cover and a duet with Bing Crosby’s original vocals, will be released on November 21.
“Food, family and music are at the heart of the holiday season,” said Lisa Fruggiero, Vice President of Brand Partnerships at Primary Wave Music. The partnership pays tribute to Bing Crosby’s legacy and King’s Hawaiian heritage.
Iam Tongi expressed excitement about his involvement, saying, “Recording on such a legendary song… has been a surreal experience for me.”
Raouf Moussa, CMO of King’s Hawaiian, highlighted the brand’s holiday significance. “King’s Hawaiian started with a dream to share a little aloha with every meal.”
As part of the celebration, King’s Hawaiian launched a campaign, “It’s Not the Holidays Without King’s Hawaiian,” airing nationally across various platforms.
