Idaho – Idaho State Police shared photos of a battered black sedan on the shoulder of a highway crossover lane alongside a reminder: using highway crossover lanes to turn around is dangerous and illegal.
“This is extremely dangerous – and it’s a scenario troopers see far too often. Crossovers are not for turning around during traffic backups,” the Idaho State Police wrote in its post.
The Idaho State Police said the car in the photos was hit while attempting to enter the crossover. It said this tends to happen when traffic is backup up because of a blocking crash.
However, using crossovers for this purpose is illegal and puts the driver, those around them and first responders at risk, the Idaho State Police said.
