KOOSKIA, Idaho – Emergency crews responded to a vehicle accident with entrapment on Highway 12 near Kooskia on December 20, 2025, at around 9:10 a.m., according to Kooski Emergency Services.
The Kooskia Ambulance, Kooskia Ambulance Rescue Unit, Kooskia Fire Department and Lowell Quick Response Unit were dispatched to mile post 101.
Upon arrival, one occupant had already been extricated by bystanders, while another remained trapped in the vehicle. Crews used extrication equipment to free the remaining occupant.
Both individuals were transported by ground ambulance to a landing zone before being airlifted to a medical facility.
The Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police assisted the emergency crews at the scene.
