
HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears delighted fans with their annual teddy bear toss, collecting an impressive 81,796 stuffed toys during their game against the Rockford Ice Hogs on Sunday night.
This beloved tradition, now in its 25th year, sees fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the team’s first goal. The toys will be distributed to 60 charities in the area, benefiting countless individuals. Over the years, the event has amassed a total of 648,246 stuffed animals for the community.
The GIANT Center, which hosted the sold-out event, holds 10,550 fans. On average, each attendee brought nearly eight stuffed animals.
The logistics of how fans manage to bring and toss so many toys remain a mystery, but the impact on local charities is undeniable.
