Heavy police presence in Moscow prompts shelter in place advisory

According to Captain Shane Anderson with the Latah County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to a confirmed report of shots fired in Moscow.

A suspect reportedly shot outside of a structure and then barricaded himself inside of the structure. Latah County SWAT and multiple other agencies have surrounded the structure, and are currently attempting to communicate with the suspect, Captain Anderson stated.

No word of injuries resulting from the incident have been shared at this time.

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Moscow Police Department (MPD) reported a significant law enforcement presence near the 400 block of South Roosevelt Street on Wednesday night.

MPD advised residents to avoid the area and instructed those currently in the vicinity to shelter in place.

Details on what triggered this advisory have not been disclosed. MPD assured the public that updates will follow their initial announcement.
