
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. – A head-on crash killed two people north of Liberty Lake early Saturday morning.
A Volkswagen sedan was driving on SR-290 when the driver crossed over the center line, hitting a Dodge head-on, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Both cars came to a rest on opposite shoulders of the road.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 20-year-old from Clayton, was declared dead on the scene. WSP reports he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Dodge, a 61-year-old from Athol, was also declared dead on the scene. He was reported to be wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
WSP said excessive speed is a cause in the crash.
