SPOKANE, Wash. – Hands Across Spokane is set to bring together dozens of local providers for a community event and resource fair on Friday, October 10, at the North Central Community Mental Health & Development Center. This event coincides with World Mental Health Day.
The initiative builds on the legacy of Hands Across the Falls, expanding its focus to mental health awareness. Community members are encouraged to share photos of joined hands with the hashtag #HandsAcrossSpokane to promote the message that no one has to face mental health challenges alone.
The event will feature dozens of organizations offering resources like behavioral health care, housing assistance, recovery programs and legal aid. Mobile health clinics will provide free screenings and vaccine education.
Tim Sigler, Director of Behavioral Health & Recovery Services at Community-Minded Enterprises, emphasized the event’s purpose. “Our hope is that Hands Across Spokane reminds people they’re not alone, and that Spokane as a community stands together for mental health,” said Sigler.
The fair will also include local food trucks, music and activities, making it a family-friendly event. At 1:00 p.m., attendees will join hands for a group photo to symbolize Spokane’s commitment to mental health.
Supported by sponsors like ICCU and Canopy Credit Union, the event invites everyone to participate and share their own joined-hands photos.
