UNITED STATES – The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has highlighted a significant issue during Halloween celebrations. On average, 55 percent of emergency room visits on Halloween are attributed to pumpkin carving accidents.
The Commission points out the dangers of using sharp knives, which can slip easily and lead to cuts.
Another common cause of emergency room visits is falling while hanging or taking down decorations. These incidents occur frequently during the Halloween season.
Over the last three years, the US has seen an annual average of 3,200 Halloween-related injuries treated at emergency rooms.
The Commission’s findings are a timely reminder for those participating in Halloween festivities to exercise caution when carving pumpkins or decorating their homes.
