UNITED STATES – The greeting card industry is confronting challenges as digital alternatives become more popular. Despite the rise of smartphones and social media affecting revenue, greeting cards remain culturally significant for many.

A July 2025 report titled “Greeting Cards & Other Publishing in the US – Market Analysis Report 2015-2030” outlines the industry’s difficulties. It indicates that paperless substitutes have decreased demand, with many opting for digital options over traditional cards. The report predicts a decline in industry revenue at a compound annual growth rate of 2.5%, reaching approximately $6.8 billion in 2023. Profit is expected to drop by 1.2%.

However, greeting cards continue to hold emotional value. Occasions like birthdays and anniversaries drive demand. The Greeting Cards Market Size, Share & Industry Analysis report notes, “Most friends and family want to send their appreciation and love to a person when his/her birthday came through a warm birthday greeting card.”

The Global Greeting Cards Market Size, Share & Industry Trends Analysis Report projects the market to reach $21.5 billion by 2030 with a growth rate of 1.6% CAGR. Cultural traditions in Europe, such as birthdays and Valentine’s Day, maintain a steady demand for greeting cards.
