SPOKANE, Wash. – A group of business and community leaders from Spokane traveled to Washington, D.C. earlier this month. Their goal was to bring Spokane’s voice to the forefront of federal decision-making as part of Greater Spokane Inc.’s annual D.C. Fly-In.
The event included representatives from various industries such as health care, education, finance, transportation, agriculture, and technology. These leaders met with federal policymakers to advocate for issues critical to Spokane’s economic vitality and long-term growth.
Alisha Benson, CEO of Greater Spokane Inc., emphasized the importance of these meetings. “It’s so important for the elected leaders for our region to understand the top priorities… it gives them the tangibility to understand what our community needs… what the impacts look like… and also where we can align and work together,” Benson said.
During their visit, they discussed topics like health care and research funding in the region. They also addressed tariffs to help local businesses access international markets.
The delegation also pushed for improvements in regional infrastructure, including enhancements to the Spokane International Airport through the FAA Reauthorization Act.
