Grant County Sheriff’s Office employee on leave after Soap Lake domestic violence investigation

SOAP LAKE, Wash. — A Grant County Sheriff’s Office employee has been placed on administrative leave following a domestic violence incident now under investigation by the Soap Lake Police Department.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred in Soap Lake and is being handled by Soap Lake police. Because the case involves a Sheriff’s Office employee, the agency said it will not participate in the criminal investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office said the employee has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues. Once the Soap Lake Police Department completes its work, Clear Risk Solutions — the county’s risk pool — will conduct an internal investigation to determine whether agency policy was violated.

“We understand the gravity of domestic violence and recognize the importance of believing and protecting victims — especially when law enforcement is involved,” the Sheriff’s Office said in its release. “The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is working to ensure that justice, safety and transparency are maintained throughout this process.”

NonStop Local reached out to the Sheriff’s Office to confirm the employee’s position but was unable to do so.
