OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Bob Ferguson signed 50 new bills into law in Washington this weekend, each affecting various aspects of life in the state.
One of the new laws focuses on supporting veterans. It requires the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs to provide information about available benefits and services to recently discharged veterans. This initiative aims to assist veterans in better accessing the support they need.
Driver’s education will also see changes with a new requirement. The law mandates driver’s education for individuals aged 18 to 21 who are looking to get their driver’s license. This aims to enhance road safety by ensuring new drivers are well-prepared.
Another notable change involves littering fines. The newly signed legislation increases fines for littering to $125. Additionally, there is a $93 fee for throwing or dropping items onto state highways. This aims to address environmental concerns and maintain cleaner roadways.
