CLARKSTON, Wash. – Firefighters with the Asotin County Fire District #1 (ACFD1) patrolled across the Lewis-Clark valley for the Fourth of July to cut down response times on small fires.
ACFD1 Chief Noel Hardin said that local residents and good weather helped keep the night safe.
Firefighters from ACFD1 put out several fires quickly, keeping them from growing past small spot fires.
There was no real fire damage and, except for a minor burn on a hand, there were no reported injuries as well.
“Weather really played in our favor tonight. Lower temperatures, no wind and higher humidity helped keep fire growth to a minimum on various fires tonight,” said Noel.
He added that he appreciated local residents for trying to be as safe as possible with such dry conditions.
