SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University welcomed its class of 2029 on move-in day, with a notably smaller group of students than in recent years.

This year, 1,150 freshmen are joining the class of 2029. This is the first time since 2020 that freshman enrollment numbers at Gonzaga have fallen below 1,200.

Dr. Katia Passerini, the new president of Gonzaga University, stated they are actively working to expand programs to boost future enrollment. Passerini said, “seeing what other graduate programs can we do so that students that come here can go and do accelerated programs from undergraduate to graduate. So all of these initiatives together, and reaching the students where they are hopefully will help us move the needle forward.”

Passerini also expressed excitement about Gonzaga joining the Pac-12 Conference in July of next year. She hopes this move will attract more incoming students to the university.
