
SPOKANE, Wash. — Girl Scout cookie season officially began Friday with local troops hoping to sell one million cookies across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho over the next few weeks.
The annual cookie sales campaign represents a crucial revenue stream for the organization, generating approximately 70% of its total funding. These sales directly support troop activities, community service projects and various programs offered by Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
Cookie distribution began Sunday, March 22 at OneRelo Worldwide warehouse on Moore Lane in Spokane. Staff and volunteers coordinated the distribution of 22,910 cases, totaling 274,920 boxes of cookies to troops throughout the region.
“When you buy cookies from these girls here today, or donate them to our troops overseas, you are making a difference for these girls right here,” said Brian Newberry, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and North Idaho. “You are going to help send 600 girls to resident camp this year, 700 girls to day camp, and thousands and thousands of girls to have experiences across our globe.”
This year’s lineup features nine cookie varieties, including beloved classics such as Thin Mints and Samoas. The selection also includes newer flavors like Exploremores, expanding options for cookie enthusiasts.
The cookie season provides Girl Scouts with hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, goal-setting and customer service. Beyond the financial benefits to the organization, the program teaches valuable life skills to participating scouts.
Customers can purchase cookies directly from Girl Scouts at local supermarkets, retail stores and community centers. Cookies are also available through local Girl Scout councils or online at this link.
The 2026 cookie season will continue through April 19, giving customers nearly a month to support local troops while satisfying their cookie cravings.
